Nowadays, everyone is connected to the internet. It is an amazing tool that we use every day to make our lives easier. That being said, it is important to stay vigilant and safe online as there are many people who abuse this tool for their own personal gain. Here are just a few tips to keep in mind when using the internet.

First and foremost, never click on links that you received from an unknown email address or weren’t expecting. A common trick malicious emails use is to put a sense of urgency or threaten legal action to get you to click on a bad link. For example, you get an email from Apple, saying you have a one thousand dollar charge on your account. Don’t click on the link in that email, but instead go to Apple’s website yourself and check your account purchase history, or reach out to their support directly.

Secondly, it is very important to have different passwords for every account you have. It may be difficult to remember but if you only have one password and that somehow gets compromised. The hackers now have access to not just that one account, but to all your accounts.

There are many other things you can do to keep yourself safe online, but being vigilant for bad links and keeping your passwords unique and secure are some great first steps you can take.
